Zine Making

Zines have historically been used across movement spaces to share critical information and inspire change. Alexia works with zines as a art methodology for decolonization, popular education, and radical change. Zines reject the logics of institutional gatekeeping, authorship, and profit that have historically controlled whose knowledge matters. By working in community and with youth, Alexia creates spaces where knowledge is shared horizontally, stories are reclaimed, and lived experience is treated as expertise and science.

The Take This With You Zine is available at Bluestockings Bookstore thanks to a NYU Solid Grant to support printing & hosting art and social justice workshops with the zine.

Zines by Youth Fellows

Participating in Alexia’s zine workshop feels empowering, I’m excited to continue documenting and creating knowledge by making more zines.
